My two cents

  • Feb. 14th, 2006 at 12:01 PM

I tried really, really hard to not make any comment about the Vice President shooting somebody this past weekend. Honestly, I did. I can’t help myself though. I just have to throw in my two cents.

I find this situation to be ironically hysterical. Obviously, I feel terrible for the man who was shot, and I certainly hope he makes a full recovery. However, Cheney is an avid gun rights advocate, and he has just shown why there should be better gun laws in this country. Any moron can get a gun, and possibly kill someone with it.

The incident was revealed to the press about a day after it happened, and only then it was by the woman who owns the ground where the man was shot. I really don’t think the administration would have said anything. That’s just the way our government works now.

Now, the White House is joking about it, and authorities are basically brushing the whole thing off. A MAN HAS BEEN SHOT! He is currently in the hospital with pellets still lodged in his skin. Come on people, this is serious. These are the people who are running this country. Of course, now that I actually stop to think about it, I guess that explains why our country is in such a terrible state.

OK, I feel better now.

You say "Any moron can get a gun". Well, in this case any moron did.

You're right. This accident proves that Cheney is a moron. In fact, I recently spilled a glass of milk and quit my job in shame and contrition.

It’s amazing that after Cheney shot a man, who has now subsequently had a heart attack because of a pellet lodged near his heart, the only thing he has to worry about is a $7 stamp.

You're right. Cheney should resign. No, Cheney should be forced to shoot himself in the face. This accident proves beyond doubt that George Bush is evil.

You guys crack me up... The fact that a politician did something dumb is nothing new for our current political landscape. If fact the party in which it appears most of you are aligned is guilty a score of shenanigans including your top brass... notwithstanding their political acumen, there are pedophiles, murderers, swindlers, otherwise very seedy individuals running your affairs.

I realize this is a tangent, but c'mon. If you're going to ream Cheney for pelting a guy with 28 gauge (the standard is 12 gauge... considerably larger and more powerful, a 28 guage is a boy's training shotgun that would't drop a qual @ 30 feet) shot and not focusing the same scrutiny on your party is very transparent and dishonest.

Should he resign? Ha. These two men are guilty of stupidity, nothing more. You don’t walk next to, and out of site of another gun - period. Conversely a hunter obviously has a responsibility to be aware of everything in his/her line of fire before shooting. Both of these guys screwed up. They were lazy and not hunting safely and paid a price for it. This is a good lesson not an indicator of political policy.... obviously... But, you are right about one thing. He should apologize. But not to us, to the other hunter and his family.
